How My Journey Began…

Hi! I'm Sara, a UX designer based in the San Francisco bay area with a background in healthcare. I am an experienced Occupational Therapist who has worked in nursing home and home health settings with elderly patients who have physical and cognitive disabilities-- with the goal of maximizing independence, decreasing burden of care, and supporting community re-integration.

This incredible experience has enabled me to learn about, connect with, and help hundreds of people who were frequently struggling with life-threatening illnesses return to normal life again. In addition, I studied Psychology and worked as a research assistant at UC Berkeley as well as graduate research assistant at Washington University School of Medicine. The latter enabled me to help create, trial, and revise a research-based low-vision self-management program for elderly adults.

These experiences serve as a foundation to approach design with enhanced empathy, deeper understanding of human behavior, and with an inquisitive mind. I am excited to use design as a means to help an even greater number of people across the globe.
